Syria Earthquake Appeal
Emergency in Syria
On 6 February, two earthquakes – registering 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude – hit Syria and Turkey, killing many thousands of people and causing widespread devastation.
Our local partner, Dorcas, was quick to respond. Within hours, we were delivering life-saving food aid to thousands of people in the city of Aleppo. Since then, we have expanded our support to provide hygiene packs, blankets and counselling services to those affected by this tragedy.
As schools in Syria begin to reopen, we are pleased to be serving Mary’s Meals in classrooms once again. Our nutritious meals will do so much more than simply filling empty stomachs. They will give children the energy to learn, and offer comfort from the devastation outside the school yard.
We are very grateful to everyone who has supported our emergency response by giving to our Syria Earthquake Appeal. If you still wish to donate, we will ensure that your gift is used to help families in Syria as they rebuild and recover.

Mary's Meals in Syria
Our school feeding programme in Syria provides meals for children whose young lives have been scarred by unimaginable trauma. We work with a partner organisation, Dorcas.
Every school day, we normally reach 5,042 children across 18 schools and one community centre in Aleppo – a city which was under siege between 2012 and 2016. A dedicated team of volunteers prepare all the lunches in one school that has reliable access to water and electricity. The food is then delivered to the other locations across the city.
