Mary’s Meals charity shops reopen following lockdown
Supporters can help feed hungry children by visiting their local shop.
The Mary's Meals charity shops in Glasgow (Duke Street), Troon, Oban, Lochgilphead and Inverkeithing have reopened following their temporary closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A range of measures has been introduced to ensure the safety of customers, volunteers and staff – including a 72-hour quarantine period for all donations and clothing being steamed.
Mary’s Meals was set up to provide nutritious meals at school for hungry children living in some of the world’s poorest communities.
With schools across the globe closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have had to be quick to adapt, working with governments and local communities t develop safe methods of distribution which allow almost all the children who normally enjoy our meals to eat at home instead.
Marina Campbell, manager in the Mary’s Meals Lochgilphead shop, says: “By donating unwanted goods and shopping with us in our charity shops, people can make a real difference to the lives of hungry children living around the world.
“I am so pleased that our shop has opened again, and I look forward to seeing our customers again soon!”
Our shops in Barrhead and Dunblane remain closed for now. We will provide updates when they reopen.
