Judy Murray loves Mary’s Meals
Judy Murray presents our BBC Radio 4 appeal this weekend.
British tennis coach, Judy Murray, has long been a passionate supporter of Mary’s Meals.
She first became aware of our work when her parents visited our shop in her hometown of Dunblane. This encouraged her to read The Shed That Fed A Million Children, the book written by our founder, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow.
In March, Judy helped launch our Mother’s Day campaign, Mums Make Mary’s Meals, which celebrated the important role mothers play in our mission.
And her amazing support continues, as the Masterchef contestant talks about why she loves Mary’s Meals on BBC Radio 4.
She says: “As a mum, I know that the most important things you can do for your children, apart from love them, is to feed them and ensure that they develop through education. Mary’s Meals does both.”
Judy explains the importance of our work for children like Lette, from Malawi, who eats Mary’s Meals at school.
At the age of 11, Lette became an orphan and the head of her household. She dropped out of school as she struggled to find food for her two younger brothers, and the family often went to bed hungry. Yet, the promise of our porridge at school encouraged her back into education.
