Support Mary’s Meals while you exercise

Published on

In April, Mary’s Meals supporters across the UK took part in our first ever From Dalmally to Malawi fundraising challenge, travelling thousands of miles on a virtual journey from Dalmally, the village in the Scottish Highlands where Mary’s Meals was founded, to Malawi, where the charity served its first life-changing school meals.

This year’s challenge may have reached the finish line, but there are plenty of other ways to support Mary’s Meals while you’re on the move.

Step it up this May

May is National Walking Month, and with the weather getting warmer and the days growing longer, Mary’s Meals is encouraging people to walk 10,000 steps a day as part of our Move for Meals challenge.

It costs just 10 pence to feed a child with Mary’s Meals. So even raising as little as £1 for every 10,000 steps you complete will provide 10 children with a nutritious meal and an education that can be their ladder out of poverty.

Move For Meals

Throughout the year, you can help to transform the lives of some of the world’s poorest children by getting active and signing up to Move for Meals.

Whether it’s dancing, skipping, running or swimming, all you have to do is pick an activity and get sponsored or donate to mark your achievement!

Take on the Artemis Pentland Peaks Challenge

This autumn, why not dig out your walking boots and sign up to the Artemis Pentland Peaks Challenge?

The event takes place in the beautiful Pentland Hills, near Edinburgh, on Saturday, 2 September and there are three different routes to test every level of fitness: Gold (27 miles), Silver (14 miles) and Bronze (8 miles).

All funds raised will be split between Mary’s Meals and the John Muir Trust. Simply sign up via the Artemis Pentland Peaks Challenge website to create your fundraising page.

Don your kilt for local Kiltwalk

Do you live in Scotland? If so, you can put on your best tartan and take part in the Kiltwalk.

The sponsored walk takes place across Scotland with dates still available in Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh, meaning there’s plenty of opportunity to get involved.

Visit the Kiltwalk website to sign up – and remember to select Mary’s Meals as your charity!

Take steps to help hungry children

Supporters in Northern Ireland can take part in the annual Step by Step to Feed the Next Child walking challenge in July and August. Email info@marysmeals.org for more information.
