Mary’s Meals serves nutritious school meals to children living in some of the world’s poorest countries. The promise of a meal attracts these hungry children into the classroom, giving them the energy to learn and hope for a better future.

Mary’s Meals International is recruiting for an experienced Travel Manager to lead on all aspects of travel at Mary’s Meals, including making travel arrangements for Mary’s Meals International and our Affiliates.

You will coordinate travel bookings, provide travel advice and guidance to colleagues across the organisation and help them plan high quality visits for employees, volunteers, supporters, and other visitors. Working in collaboration with internal teams and external providers, you will ensure all travel activity is underpinned by the principle of good stewardship, with a focus on the health, safety and security of our people when travelling.

We are happy for you to work remotely and flexibly, in a way that best supports your work life balance. We also have an office near Glasgow city centre for those who live nearby and would like to work from here occasionally or on a regular basis.

Due to the nature of this role, you may be required to occasionally use your personal mobile device and remain accessible outside of regular business hours in the event of an emergency.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Develop effective working relationships with Mary’s Meals International's appointed travel provider to ensure that we are providing a high-quality service to all travellers.
  • Ensure routes and fare types represent best value and are in accordance with Mary’s Meals policies and procedures.
  • Organise any essential travel documentation such as visas.
  • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues across the movement to help them plan and coordinate effective itineraries. This will include providing advice on visa applications, routings, travel times etc.
  • Develop internal guidance, support, and training materials for travellers.
  • Oversee group travel processes to ensure that each trip is curated to meet the needs of the travellers.
  • Effectively liaise with colleagues from across Mary's Meals International and the rest of the Mary’s Meals family to ensure that all aspects of travel are taken into consideration, such as travel health, safety, security and insurance.
  • Create and maintain traveller profiles ensuring the information is accurate and in compliance with Data Protection requirements.
  • Deliver travel briefings to new travellers.
  • Identify and collect relevant travel data and utilise this data to generate timely and relevant travel reports.
  • Lead on the development and design of the ongoing improvement to the travel booking process to identify efficiencies and ensure excellent customer service is always maintained.


About you:

  • Strong international travel management and coordination experience.
  • Experience of managing complex travel arrangements including visas.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Flexible with a proactive, agile approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills are essential for this role.
