Head of Procurement - Remote
Mary's Meals International (MMI) is delighted to be recruiting for an inspirational and impactful Head of Procurement. In this newly created role, you will have responsibility for leading and coordinating the approach to procurement across Mary’s Meals International, both in the UK and our programme and partner countries.
The ideal candidate will be positive, and innovative, with extensive experience in leading a procurement function. You will work with the Procurement Manager to drive best practices and innovation across a varied procurement remit, with a particular focus on sourcing high quality food across our global programmes. Working in close collaboration with our Head of Food Systems, you will play a key role in the ongoing development of our global feeding programmes.
As Head of Procurement, you will bring a solid commitment to compliance and procurement good practice and as such will lead the ongoing development of policies, procedures and metrics to support our stewardship-focused approach and drive best practices to contribute to our overarching strategic goals. You will thrive in a values-focused environment and provide high quality procurement advice to MMI and programme affiliates, as part of the annual planning process.
Key duties:
- Develop a long-term strategic overview of procurement activities, reflecting planned and possible expansions in our school feeding programmes.
- Work closely with colleagues in the Programmes team to identify, develop and implement flexible approaches to procurement that support our future food sourcing strategy.
- Develop and monitor progress against a global procurement plan, spanning all activities for the year, across all parts of the organisation.
- Ensure procurement procedures, processes and guidance documentation are fit for purpose and, where necessary, further develop these to ensure compliance with policy, legislation and best practices for the charitable sector.
- Provide effective leadership for the Procurement team in MMI and across the programme affiliates and link effectively with other senior colleagues across the services group.
- Work with the Legal team to ensure appropriate contracts are in place and develop robust contract management tools that allow us to monitor supplier performance, over the lifespan of a contract.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Robust experience as a senior leader within the Procurement space, ideally from an international non-profit organisation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence effectively at all levels.
- Strong people leadership skills, with experience in coaching and developing high-performing teams and individuals.
- Proven success in developing and communicating best practice procurement strategy, in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Relevant procurement qualifications, such as MCIPS or CIPS Diploma.
