Our Mother’s Day digital recipe book – inspired by mums

Many of us have a meal that reminds us of our mums and brings back happy memories. We asked a few well-known people including Lorraine Kelly, Nadiya Hussain and Judy Murray to share their favourite childhood recipes with us in this digital recipe book – available to download with purchases of our Mothers’ Day gift cards and digital gifts.

In more ways than one, mums make Mary’s Meals

Happy children with their Marys Meals

From the mums in the UK whose food and love nourish us throughout our lives, to those living in some of the world’s poorest countries who volunteer to cook and serve Mary’s Meals to children in their community, this Mother’s Day we celebrate them all.

In the 17 countries where we serve our life-changing meals, it is most often mothers who volunteer to prepare, cook and serve the food. They do this so that their children, and children living in their communities, can have the chance of a better life. Just like our mums here in the UK, they know the food will nourish their children and give them the energy to study and play.

Mary, mother and volunteer cook from Zambia

Mary Tembo is a mum and volunteer cook at Nyakalungo Primary School in Zambia. Before the arrival of Mary’s Meals, she often struggled to find enough food for her family to eat. The promise of a meal which her child receives in class has relieved her worries about the lack of food at home and boosted her child’s happiness too.

She says: “When the children have eaten, you can see the happiness radiate on their faces. And when I go home, as a parent I do not feel the immense panic to find food for them."

It costs just £19.15 to feed a child for a whole school year!
