Hope Conquers Fear

Help us keep our promise at this difficult time.

We serve Mary’s Meals in the world’s poorest, and often most difficult, locations because we know that’s where we’re needed the most. For 20 years, we’ve been able to keep reaching hungry children because of the kindness of those who believe in our mission.

Today, we face some of our greatest challenges yet in a world devastated by war and food insecurity – as well as the cost of living crisis, which we know is affecting our dedicated supporters here in the UK.

It is easy to feel hopeless when faced with so much suffering. But, even in desperate times, every single thing that people do for our mission makes an enormous difference to the children who eat our nutritious school meals, allowing them to gain an education and look to a much brighter future.

For just 8p a serving, we are feeding hungry children in truly difficult circumstances, including in six countries affected by brutal conflict including Ethiopia and Yemen

With Mary's Meals, hope can conquer fear, hunger and unfulfilled dreams. At this difficult time, more than ever, we need your help to keep our promise to the 2,279,941 children who eat our meals every school day – and, together, we’ll reach the next hungry child waiting.

Agnes' story

Nine-year-old Agnes and her three younger siblings live with their grandparents in Zimbabwe, where money and food are scarce… but hunger is not.

The arrival of Mary’s Meals in her school has been much anticipated, and now every school day volunteers are cooking and serving our nutritious bowls of porridge to Agnes and her classmates. This guaranteed meal gives them the energy they need to learn and grow.

Agnes says: “School makes me happy. I enjoy reading and playing but this requires more energy. When I’m hungry, I hardly concentrate and find it difficult to read.

“I felt so happy and my hope for learning came back when our teacher said that we will be having meals at school. I have been waiting patiently for a day like this. Today I am seeing the promise come true. I’m really grateful to the people who have made this food a reality.”
